Mrs. Shelby Hanson
Hi, I'm Mrs. Shelby Hanson!
I'm so glad you're here! I'm a proud Philip native, wife, mother, and special education teacher who feels incredibly lucky to call Philip my home!
I'm so glad you're here! I'm a proud Philip native, wife, mother, and special education teacher who feels incredibly lucky to call Philip my home!
I grew up here in Philip and graduated from PHS in 2013. After high school, I attended Black Hills State University where I earned by bachelor's degree in Special and Elementary Education in 2017. In the spring of 2021, I graduated with my master's degree in Special Education from Northwest Missouri State University. My teaching career began in Midland, where I taught grades 3rd-5th for a year before making my way back to Philip. I am now in my 9th year of teaching middle and high school special education here at PHS. I'm the assistant drama director and prom advisor, so between practice, costumes, prom planning, and all the little details that make middle and high school fun, there's rarely a dull moment!
Outside of school, my husband, Brock, and I stay busy with our four kids- Briley, Bryer, Hailey, and Charlotte, who we welcomed into the world this past July. Life at our house is rarely boring! Most of my free time is spent chasing kids, helping out on my family's ranch, and baking whenever I can sneak in a little time in the kitchen.
My paraprofessional, Mrs. Ashley Hellekson, and I are passionate about helping students recognize their strengths, build confidence, and discover that they are capable of more than they may realize! Every student has something special to offer and we are lucky to be a part of their journey!
